Planning for an upcoming event...

I was accepted as a vendor for the Etsy Handmade in Canada 2015 - Kingston event.  Super excited!

I've had an Etsy shoppe for years but I haven't been very succussful at selling online.  In the case of my monsters I think it's because many people want to hold and squeeze and hug a plushie before they buy it.  Kinda hard to do that through an online shoppe.

The Fuzzlings and Beevils are starting to chatter about who is going to be adopted and who looks nicer (the Beevils with the bows are saying they are dressed pretty for the occasion) ... I think they are a bit nutty but if it keeps them from running a muck in my sewing room, then ok!

I'm the featured crafter on the BuyHandmade.ca Blog :)

Earlier this year I signed up for a few shows in Peterborough, Ontario.  The group that organizes these shows put on quite a few events during the year.  They also have a blog which they feature various crafters and it's my turn!

You gotta love a group that has a website all about handmade items and their makers :)

I was asked if I would provide some details and a write up about myself and how I got into making my monsters.  I put together a little bit of this and dash of that, and presto - my entry for the blog.

Read it here

If you are looking for a good group to join, that features handmade items from various artists and crafters, then you may want to take a closer look at their site and see if their events would work for your schedule.

Now, back to sewing... I have monsters to make!

August is here and I have monsters!

I haven't posted in ages!  I realized what the date was when we flipped the calendar to AUGUST!!!  Yes, August is here!  Where does the time go?  For me, I've been busy with making monsters and vending at various shows which feature handcrafted items.

Over the past little while I've been at a few shows and the response to my Fuzzlings and Beevils has been great.  Not everyone wants to adopt a monster but most people smile when they see my booth.  I think that is awesome.

A few photos of my set up from a show at the Hazeldean Mall (looking forward to the Christmas Show in November at the same location!)  I had great neighbours at that show, there was a good attendance of people through the doors and it was a great weekend.

My table set up at the annual show in Picton Ontario. It was a very warm day and thankfully being in the area meant that the HUGE garage door at the end of the arena was open for a slight breeze.

How about some photos of Beevils?  Children really love these.  I think it's due to the size - they are easy to hug!  I decided to make a few which had fabric eyes (instead of buttons) since there were a few parents who mentioned they loved them but the button eyes would not be good for their little one.  So the new eye style is on the orange Beevil and the Pink with polka dot Beevil.  What do you think?

Shopper Etiquette at a Craft Show

For most of us we love to stroll through a craft show and see the wonderful items created by talented people... here is a blog post about Shopper Etiquette which I think many vendors would love to have shoppers be aware of:

Craft shows are such a unique and fun experience. If you’re heading to one, you’re obviously a conscious shopper and would never intentionally insult a vendor, but here are a few things you may not have thought of from a vendor’s perspective.

Table-set at SFDCI Craft Show

This is my table set-up for my plush creatures, it is evolving as I keep making a few tweaks here and there!
